Mekong River Delta
On the border of Vietnam and Cambodia, the Mekong River empties out to a maze of swamps, rivers and islands forming a Vietnamese bayou, of sorts. Just as the rivers run together, cultures, religions and nationalities blend too. Technically in the country of Vietnam, the tiny town of Can Tho is home to Cambodian Khmer temples, Cham Muslim mosques and well as traditional Vietnamese temples and pagodas. Life is lived on the water here, and sunrise floating markets, house boats and catfish hunting are common to see.
